SCA operate in a wide and diverse range of locations, which is testament to our multi-skilled team and our professional approach to working in all circumstances. SCA’s Contract Scaffolding Operations are managed from our Hayling Island office for works carried out on the mainland, and Sandown on the Isle of Wight. These fixed office locations manage all aspects of their operations with administrative support provided by our friendly Head Office team.

Our staff are fully committed to exceeding customer expectations through robust health and safety procedures, high staff retention and ever-evolving internal training programs for all management and employees.

Translating the work ethic and dedication to high standard performance and safety practices instilled in the business by the management of the SCA Group, we have quickly established ourselves in the commercial sector and as an innovator in cost effective specialist access / protection scaffolding.

SCA’s Contract Scaffolding team also engages in special projects offering services either on an individual basis or as a multi-discipline provision. We have promoted the benefits that a combined package can offer when a single contractor is employed to carry out multiple trades, from enhanced management and co-ordination on site to cost and time savings over the duration of a contract.

Rope Access, as an innovative access solution, has grown in recent years, and is now not limited to the offshore environment, where this type of access has been used extensively for several years and can now been seen under a number of different guises onshore. All manner of work is now undertaken from high-rise window and façade cleaning, and general maintenance, to repair, geotechnical and inspection work, as well as de-vegetation and landscaping.

The Rope Access division operates from our Head Office location in Dorset but offers a service provision UK-wide. SCA’s highly skilled technicians can carry out a proven system of achieving a safe and cost-effective work position at height or in areas of complicated access where heavy machinery or equipment can be costlier and logistically challenging. Rope Access allows access to areas that would normally appear to be inaccessible.

Providing access to areas from above means that other trades on site can continue working unhindered, and without jeopardising their safety. SCA Rope Access is a full member of IRATA, the World’s governing body for rope access activities, and undertakes an extensive array of projects including cleaning and maintenance, devegetation and landscaping, surveying, painting and non-destructive testing.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Our rope access workers work from two ropes, a working rope and a back-up safety rope, permanently attached to both
Each rope has a separate anchorage point
In the unlikely event of the working rope becoming damaged or unusable, the safety rope prevents a fall
To prevent accidental dropping all tools, a suitable weight are attached to the technician at all times. Heavier items are independently suspended
Minimum of two technicians required for any job so as to enable mutual surveillance
All our technicians receive extensive training and independent assessment and are required to undergo re-training every three years

The Industrial Coatings division operates from the Head Office location just outside of Bournemouth on the South Coast of England. This arm of the business provides a whole spectrum of services from Inspection and Analysis, to Blasting and Coatings. All of SCA’s painting operatives and supervisors are highly experienced and qualified, guaranteeing that all surveys or applications are carried out to a high standard, thus eliminating the prospect of coating failures or incorrect product choices. Advancements in industrial paints and more stringent preparation standards have meant that painting has become a much more skilled operation, and one that SCA and its operatives excel at. It has been a common place in many industries for unskilled and unqualified operatives to carry out painting works, in turn leading to poor application and costly coatings failures. To this end, SCA’s aim is to make sure that the clients’ structure or asset is correctly examined and protected and its lifespan prolonged in the most cost-effective manner possible. Fully trained to ICATS and ICORR certifications, all of SCA’s painters and supervisors are independently assessed to work in all kinds of environments, both on land and offshore. SCA’s technicians can carry out all of the following services amongst many others:

The SCA Group has become an established name in the Marine sector over the years, and is widely admired by customers and competitors alike. An unwavering dedication to health and safety, and appreciation of the demanding, time critical nature of the working environment has made sure of this.

The Marine Scaffolding division encompasses operations in Portsmouth Naval Base, Govan and Scotstoun Dockyards in Scotland, and Falmouth Dockyard in the south west of England. SCA holds long term agreements to be the sole scaffold supplier in each of these locations, and in the case of Portsmouth and Falmouth, has done so for more than 15 years working in partnership with BAE Systems and A&P Ship Repair Group respectively.

SCA’s presence in Scotland was confirmed in 2014 and since then, SCA has been a key supplier in the production of the new Offshore Patrol Vessels and subsequently the Type 26’s.
