SCA’s scaffold inspector, Allan Paterson, has been awarded the BAE Systems Gold Coin Award in recognition of his dedication to high standards of Health and Safety.
BAE set up the Gold Coin Initiative in the Govan and Scotstoun shipyards to encourage all workers to demonstrate positive SHE Performance, positive behaviours, and high ethical standards. The individuals that receive the award have been nominated following best practice in the following:
▪️SHE performance in line with BAE SHE leading behaviours
▪️Ethics as set out in BAE Code of Conduct
▪️Displaying behaviours in line with BAE company standards
▪️Prioritising safety, looking out for others as well as themselves, and promoting a safe working environment
The award of the ‘Coin’ is symbolic and was selected to follow an international navy shipbuilding tradition and is commonly referred to as a ‘Challenge Coin’. Historically, it was presented as a gift from seniors to honour a member of a ship’s company that went above and beyond the normal call of duty or stood out in support of team members.
Allan can now use his coin to ‘purchase’ an item of exclusive PPE reserved only for recipients of the Gold Award.
We are extremely proud of Allan for this achievement and thankful for all of his ongoing efforts maintaining high standards of Health and Safety at all times.
